Dental Bridges

Fixed Partial Denture

Missing a tooth or two? A Dental Bridge, also know as a Fixed Partial Denture (FPD), is a customized dental prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth. It is usually supported by two or more natural-existing, healthy teeth adjacent to the missing space.

A Dental Bridge is fixed in place and cannot be removed, once cemented into place. The concept is simple to understand. At least two crowns on natural, healthy teeth flanking the missing space are connected by custom-made replacement teeth called pontics. The natural teeth used to support the pontics are called abutments. A common example of a Dental Bridge is one that replaces one missing tooth and uses three parts: two abutments and one pontic.

Depending on the patient’s unique circumstances, a Dental Bridge can replace multiple teeth if necessary. It is important to not allow the abutment teeth to become overloaded by expecting them to support too many replacement teeth, or have the bridge cover an excessive distance. A bridge is a good option for a patient wanting to replace a few teeth while combining cosmetics and cost.

Tooth Caps

In cases where aesthetic demands are high and veneers are not a viable option, crowns can be just as good an alternative. These cosmetic crowns are also all-porcelain and look just as good as veneers, with the attractiveness of a natural, healthy and white tooth coupled with the added strength of full coverage. The drawback, of course, is that since a crown covers the entire tooth, the tooth preparation will necessarily be a bit more aggressive than veneers. However, in patients with proven occlusal stress, crowns are the only viable long-term option.

Dr. Tan works closely with a high-quality, local dental laboratory to achieve the most desirable aesthetic result. This is accomplished by sending the patient directly to the laboratory for custom shading by experienced technicians so that the final restoration(s) is as closely matched, as possible, to the rest of the dentition for a seamless appearance!

Removable Dental Prostheses

Removable Dental Prostheses are usually used to restore function and aesthetics for situations involving multiple missing teeth or entirely edentulous mouths. The most common of these are partial dentures and complete dentures. Removable Prostheses can help restore the ability to chew, improve aesthetics and even aid with speech. Since a lot of factors go towards the evaluation of properly fabricated dentures, Dr. Tan will perform a thorough oral evaluation and consult with the patients to determine if this is a feasible and useful option.

Due to the unpredictable nature of scheduling and the scope of the work necessary, same-day treatment may or may not be possible, so please bear that in mind. However, we always do our best to give patients some help and provide a plan to definitively solve their needs.

Dental Fillings

Dental Fillings

Tooth Colored Fillings

From adolescents and teens to adults and seniors, all patients are susceptible to cavities and small dental defects. Our dentists commonly use a non-metal, durable composite resin filler that can be color matched to your existing teeth. That’s right – no more metal (silver amalgam) added to your mouth and you can always consult with Dr. Tan about having existing metal fillings removed and replaced with tooth colored filler. The aesthetic difference is both amazing and beautiful. These composite resin fillings, when done properly, are just as durable as silver ones and provide excellent cosmetic appearances.

Invisalign Clear Braces

Invisalign Clear Braces

An Alternative to Metal Braces

Our office is also a certified Invisalign provider! Invisalign is an alternative to the traditional form of braces requiring wires and brackets. Whereas the latter can cause discomfort and aesthetic concerns, Invisalign uses plastic aligners that are made out of plastic, thin, and virtually invisible. For an average Invisalign case, perhaps 14-20 sets of aligners are used to slowly move teeth to a more idealized position. The slingers are swapped every 3-4 weeks as the teeth start shifting. It is a gentle, easy, and fun way to move teeth.

Limitations of Invisalign include the severity of the case and patient compliance. Cases that are too severe requiring a tremendous amount of teeth movement may not qualify, and in order for cases to work as planned patients must wear them for a certain amount of time daily as well as not losing the aligners.

Periodontal Dental Services

Periodontal Dental Services

Your Dentist for Periodontal Dental Services in Spring, Texas

Spring Complete Care Dentistry provides gentle, periodontal (gum) dental services to help our patients in the Spring, Texas area maintain optimum oral health. Dr. Tan works with patients on oral heath, while providing scaling and root planing (deep cleaning), pocket reduction therapy and crown lengthening.

Scaling and Root Planing (deep cleaning)

Scaling and Root Planing, also known as deep cleaning, is the process of removing dental calculus, (which can cause inflammation, gum disease and undesirable aesthetics), below the gumline. We recommend a deep cleaning to patients when their X-rays show bone loss and their full-mouth exam reveals one or more gum pockets >4 millimeters deep. Regular periodic cleanings and good oral hygiene can help prevent the need for this procedure. After a scaling and root planing is rendered, we typically allow 6 – 8 weeks foe the gums to heal and then re-evaluate the results.

Pocket Reduction Therapy

Pocket Reduction Therapy or Flap Surgery, is recommended when the tissues around the teeth are unhealthy and cannot be repaired with nonsurgical options such as Scaling and Root Planing. During the Pocket Reduction Therapy procedure, the patient’s gums are lifted back and all tartar around the teeth are removed. In some instances, irregular surfaces of damaged bone are smoothed out to eliminate places where disease-causing bacteria can gather. The patient’s gums are then sutured back to fit snugly around the teeth.

Crown Lengthening

Crown Lengthening is a commonly performed dental procedure which removes a small amount of gum tissue and bone to expose more of a targeted tooth. Crown Lengthening is usually performed when a tooth needs a crown, since sometimes there is not enough of the tooth exposed above the gumline to support a restoration.

Root Canal

Root Canal

Endodontic Therapy

Dental Root Canals is a treatment used to repair and, at times, save a tooth that is damaged, decayed, or infected, as all of these conditions can result in discomfort. To perform a root canal, the dentist removes the nerve within the pulpal chamber and root, followed by disinfection and sealing. If a badly damaged or decayed tooth does not get a root canal, the surrounding tissues can become infected and abscesses may form. These types of conditions should be addressed as soon as possible to minimize the long term damage and possible tooth loss, as well as pain and discomfort.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry

Say No to Dental Anxiety with Sedation Dentistry!

Spring Complete Care Dentistry understands that some of our patients may experience higher-than-normal levels of anxiety when undergoing their dental treatments. We encourage our patients to share their concerns with us and consider oral sedation as an alternative to reduce anxiety before and during their treatment.
Dental Anxiety

At Spring Complete Care Dentistry, we offer patients conscious (or minimal) sedation, provided there are no medical contraindications. Patients would take 1 – 2 tablets of a prescribed benzodiazepine sedative. Over a period of several hours, the patient would experience considerably less anxiety and be much more relaxed for their scheduled dental treatment. The effect wears off after 4 – 5 hours, after which the patient begins to function normally again. During this entire time we carefully monitor the patient’s vitals to ensure proper safety and well-being while under our care. We do require that the patient be driven to and from the office by a family member, friend or car service, so that the patient does not operative a vehicle under the influence. Please feel free to consult with our dentist, Dr. Tan, about our sedation service, if you are interested.

Teeth whitening

Dental Bleaching in Spring TX

Dental bleaching, also called teeth whitening, is a common, safe procedure whereby a peroxide-based gel is applied to teeth either directly in an office-based procedure or through a custom-fit, carrier tray. Through these methods, the gel sticks onto the teeth and safely bleaches away external stains accumulated from food, drinks, smoking, etc. If done correctly, this procedure can noticeably whiten and restore teeth to their natural pearl-white shade or even more!

Patient Loyalty Program

If you are a patient who has been with our office for two complete hygiene maintenance periods (six months each, total of one year), make sure that you inquire with us on our Patient Loyalty Program where we will fabricate a set of FREE, custom bleaching trays (top and bottom) for you along with two FREE syringes of bleaching gel as a starter kit. Just our way of showing appreciation for our patients and providing a reward for those who take care of their teeth!

Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions

Tooth Removal in Spring TX

Dental Extractions are a last-resort solution for a number of different oral conditions that exist. Although permanent natural healthy teeth are meant to last a lifetime, sometimes conditions make this impossible. A few common reasons for considering extractions include: 1.) teeth that are badly damaged, 2.) the presence of an infection making saving the tooth impossible, and 3.) unnecessary teeth such as third molars (wisdom teeth).

If it is determined that a Dental Tooth Extraction is in your best interest, Dr. Tan will help make pulling the tooth or teeth as painless as possible. He will also inform you of any options you have available to accommodate the missing tooth or teeth.

Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers

Cosmetic Dental Veneers in Spring TX

Dental veneers are thin, all-porcelain pieces of restoration that are bonded directly to just the frontal surfaces of teeth. This means that preparation is more conservative than a crown, and therefore more natural teeth structure is spared. However, veneers are only suitable in certain cases where grinding/clenching of the teeth is absent, and also where the bite is not edge-to-edge. In these scenarios where the biting force is unfavorable or excessive, veneers are contraindicated since strong biting forces can either dislodge a veneer from its tooth or fracture it.

Our dental office works closely with a high-quality, local dental laboratory to achieve the most desirable aesthetic result. This is accomplished by sending the patient directly to the laboratory for custom shading by experienced technicians so that the final restoration(s) is as closely matched, as possible, to the rest of the dentition for a seamless appearance!
