Julia holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Performance from Southern Connecticut State University with a concentration in Nutrition. She then studied Japanese acupressure, known as Shiatsu-Anma with Dr. Do-Ann Kineko at the former The Tao Healing Arts Schoolin Santa Monica, California. After working in the health industry field for over a decade, she completed a four-year Masters Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Yo San University, also in Santa Monica. Julia is Nationally Certified by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. Formerly California Acupuncture Board certified, she is currently licensed to practice in Tennessee. She is the former President of the Tennessee Acupuncture Council, and has contributed to two medical textbooks, Complementary and Alternative Medical Secrets and Complementary and Alternative Treatments in Mental Health.
