Can Honey Help To Manage Cholesterol And Blood Sugar?

A drizzle of honey is all it takes to make your morning breakfast delicious. But did you know it can also manage cholesterol and blood sugar?

In particular, the researchers discovered that consuming honey is linked to reduced fasting blood glucose. Additionally, it improved triglyceride and cholesterol levels, two indicators of heart health.

The Wonders Of Honey

Because of honey's potent health advantages, its status as an additional dietary sugar may need to be reviewed.

The advantages of honey were most prominent when the honey was derived from a single floral source, especially clover and Robinia. The advantages of raw honey over processed honey were particularly observed.

Should we replace Sugar with Honey?

According to federal dietary recommendations, added sugar should make up no more than 10% of daily calories. However, honey has a caloric impact of 64 calories per tablespoon. It has little to no fiber, vitamins, or protein, making it unsuitable for everyday consumption. But switching your sugar, syrup, or other sweeteners with honey seems like a smart choice as it lowers cardiometabolic risk.

MEDICAL MYSTRIES

Born With Multiple Limbs

A girl with four limbs and legs was born in an underdeveloped Indian village in 2005. Lakshmi Tatma had two functional limbs and legs on top of her body. But a parasitic twin with its own two arms and legs, an underdeveloped torso, and no head was merged with her body at the pelvis. Lakshmi would have been born with conjoined twins if the parasitic twin had continued to grow while the mother was carrying her.

Lakshmi underwent a 27-hour surgery in the fall of 2007 to have her extra limbs removed, her organs fixed, and her body rebuilt. Although the risky treatment was successful, she might require further surgery in the future.
