During this consultation, you’ll discuss your skin goals, medical history, and areas of concern so that our specialist can design a custom skin care plan for you. If the best course of treatment includes injectable neuromodulators, you may decide to do the procedure the same-day, or may need to plan a bit further in advance. 

Prior to your neuromodulator injection, you’ll be advised to: 

• Stay off blood thinners (Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.) 
• Avoid alcohol at least 24 hours prior to treatment
• Avoid beverages containing caffeine at least 24 hours before the treatment
• Stay away from topical products like Retinols, Glycolic Acid, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid for 3 days prior to your injection. These products may break your skin, making you susceptible to bruises and infections after the procedure.
• Avoid bleaching, waxing, using depilatory creams, or tweezing in the area to be treated for one or two days prior to treatment.

All these measures will help to minimize the risk of bruising or infection after your neuromodulator injection procedure.

What is a Chemical Peel Procedure?

• Avoiding the sun and wearing strong sunblock (at least SPF 30) when going outside.
• Staying hydrated and avoiding any products that can dry the skin.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin tightening procedure that rejuvenates skin through controlled micro injury, encouraging collagen production and cellular turnover and skin renewal. It involves a device with tiny little needles to puncture the skin, which in turn stimulates collagen production thus giving your skin a tighter and firmer appearance with minimal to no down-time.

How do you prepare for Microneedling?

Ahead of your microneedling procedure, you will be given microneedling pre-treatment instructions that include: 

• Avoiding sun exposure unless you are wearing a very strong (50+) SPF, hair removal, and exfoliants before your treatment to prevent irritation. 
• Keeping an eye out for an active skin infection or breakout, like a cold sore, hives, contact dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, or active acne, as microneedling may worsen active breakouts. If you are experiencing these problems, consult your provider, as you may need to reschedule.
• Ceasing the use of retinoid and acid-based skincare products 7 days before your procedure to avoid any possible skin irritation or overdrying 
• Temporarily ceasing the use of blood-thinning medication before your microneedling appointment. 
• Arriving with a washed face (use only a gentle cleanser) on the day of the appointment and avoiding using any lotion, perfume, serum, or makeup.
