Dr. David Laverty is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, specializing in orthopedic trauma surgery. Dr. Laverty is a fellowship-trained trauma surgeon with experience in treating challenging fractures of the pelvis, arms, and legs.
He has an interest in research and clinical education, which keeps him informed of the most advanced techniques used in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Laverty is a transplant from the Midwest, having completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Iowa, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio.
After deciding to specialize in trauma surgery, Dr. Laverty pursued an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Wake Forest University. He currently practices trauma surgery and teaches medical students and residents at University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Laverty also serves as Chief Orthopedic Surgeon for Circuit of The Americas, Austin’s home to annual Formula 1 and Moto GP events and X Games Austin.
Dr. Laverty is currently Chief of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery and Vice Chief of Staff at University Medical Center Brackenridge. He was also awarded Physician of the Year in 2007 at UMCB.
David is married to Leslie, and they spend all their spare time raising their two children.
