Yes it is safe to do so. Hormones can cause gums to bleed more during pregnancy, it is important to maintain healthy oral hygiene habits throughout your pregnancy. Having your regular check-up and clean will not harm the baby.

Inflamed and bleeding gums are usually a sign of gingivitis (early stage of gum disease). If you notice your gums bleeding you will need to visit the dentist so they can investigate the symptoms further.

Pick your tooth up by the crown (never by the root!) and rinse with the patient’s saliva or milk. Never scrub the tooth or attempt to remove attached tissues as these may be required to reattach the tooth. If you are able, try and place the tooth back in the socket the right way around without force. Hold in the mouth until you get to the dentist, if you cannot reinsert the tooth in the socket put the tooth in a container of milk.

A tooth has a better chance of being saved if it is returned to its socket within the first hour of being knocked out. It is important to get to the dentist straight away.

We hold emergency appointments for our patients each day. If we have allocated all of these times we will do our best to fit you in between patients to relieve your dental pain. If you experiencing significant amounts of pain or if there is swelling or a tooth has been knocked out, please contact the surgery as soon as possible and we will do our best to get you seen by the dentist in an efficient amount of time.

At Totally Teeth, we request 24 hours notice for cancellations of appointments. We always contact patient’s 2 days before their appointment to confirm they can attend. When you schedule an appointment, we hold that time exclusively for you. Should you be unable to attend, please contact the practice to cancel or reschedule your appointed time as soon as you can. We respectfully request at least 24hours notice for cancellation of appointments. This will allow the opportunity for your appointment time to be offered to another patient in need.

A fee of $60 is charged for late cancellations and an appointments no shows.

Yes we provide a Bulk Billing service to children based on their eligibility. Eligible children aged between 2-17 years may be entitled up to $1000 in benefits for general dental services over a 2 year period. You can contact Medicare or our reception team and provide your Medicare number to check your child’s eligibility.

Yes we are preferred providers for Medibank, Bupa and HCF. You will be able to claim your maximum benefit based on you level of insurance with these companies.

Can I Claim from my private health insurance on the spot?

Yes you can, provided you bring your health insurance card with you to the appointment. We can swipe your card and claim using our Hicaps facility. Once claimed you will only need to pay the gap remaining. The amount claimable is based on the level of cover with your insurance you have.

At Totally Teeth we ask for all accounts to be settled in full at the end of the appointment.
We can take cash or card as we are equipped with HICAPS facilities to be able to process health insurance claims as well as processing Eftpos, Mastercard, Visa and American express payments.

Health Insurance cards are required at the time of processing. If you do not have your card with you the payment will need to be made in full so we can provide you with a receipt to follow up with your insurance to claim your rebate.

The purpose of having dental radiographs (x-rays) is to help with diagnosing any problems that may be occurring between the teeth or in the root of the tooth that we cannot see visually during the dental exam. They can also show where the teeth are positioned in the jaw. We recommend having bitewing x-rays every 2 years to check for problems between the teeth.

At Totally Teeth we provide digital x-rays.This provides instant images with minimal radiation. We have the facilities to take a magnified image of a single tooth and we also have an OPG unit that can take a panoramic image of the whole jaw to show all teeth and their positions.

Absolutely! We are happy to welcome new patients to Totally Teeth. We provide new patients with a comprehensive dental exam to get to know you and understand your dental needs.

A good age for children to have their first dental visit is from 18 months. It is important for children to start good oral health habits early. Bringing them to the dentist at an early age helps become familiar with the dentist and the surrounding dental environment.

We recommend a professional check-up and clean every 6 months. This will help in maintaining good oral health and aid with detecting any dental problems in the early stages. While we do recommend every 6 months, there may be changes to the timeframe based on the individual needs of the patient.
